We believe in providing the highest quality of care, delivered in a safe and friendly environment.
Our small family run private dental practice has been delivering bespoke dental care in Baldock for over ten years.
Located right next to the clocktower, we are happy to be one of the small businesses that makes Baldock so special.
With state of the art equipment, we strive to be at the forefront of dental technology. Above all else, communication is key here at Mews House Dental. We believe the patient should always feel heard and in control of their treatment.
With over 28 years of experience, Dr. Jannie Economou decided to open Mews House Dental so that he could spend more time with his patients and deliver a more comprehensive quality of care.
We are truly proud of the value of our service. We would encourage patients to compare our rates with other providers, as we are aware that our bespoke and truly excellent treatment is matched with competitive fares.
From a warm and comfortably furnished waiting room to a surgery equipped with a ceiling television for you to watch during treatment - it's our goal to make you feel at home.
We offer a comprehensive range of General, Family and Cosmetic treatments here at Mews House Dental. It should be noted that we only work with the highest quality materials – which means that we do not believe in metal filings.
Contact us to find out more about how our state of the art technology can change your experience of visiting the dentist.
Should a treatment require numbing – our injections are administered electronically – meaning our injections are virtually pain free! The 'Wand' computer controlled anaesthetic is a unique new technology that delivers anaesthetic in a more precise, gentle and effective manner.
If you are thinking about having some cosmetic work done or are looking for advice on treatment please feel free to book a no-strings-attached appointment to have a discussion with Dr. Jannie.
Our state of the art camera technology means the dentist can show you exactly what he is talking to you about. This amazing tool means we can provide even clearer communication with you, it is especially useful for appointments with children.
Qualified at Wits University Johannesburg in 1989, Jannie practiced dentistry in South Africa for 9 years.
He emigrated to Hertfordshire where he then worked in Broxbourne for 3 years and Bishop’s Stortford for 5 years. He is now fulfilling his life long dream of being the local dentist to a wonderful community. Jannie is fortunate to have loyal patients that have been with him since he first started working in the U.K. Some have moved to Australia and Canada – but still come back to see him for their check ups! Jannie is known for his warm and caring nature, he is brilliant at explaining clearly every step of treatment with all of his patients.
Maria is our practice manageress with degrees in social work and psychology, she is also our qualified nurse. Maria is grateful to have formed wonderful relationships with patients in the town and is a huge part of the homely environment at Mews.
Lia’s goal is to make you feel at home as soon as you arrive. With a degree in design, she is the front of our communications. If you have any suggestions or want to discuss special offers, she would love to hear from you.

Due to COVID 19, we have had to create new policies and procedures to ensure our service to the community is as safe and responsible as possible. We ask that you please read the following information prior to visiting Mews House Dental. Thank you for your understanding.
Before Visiting Mews House Dental :
Please arrive to your appointment on time.
This is to allow us to thoroughly clean our premises and ensure you are the only patient during your visit.
We ask that you do not visit the practice if you have experienced any symptoms of Corona Virus up to 14 days prior to your appointment.
Please be aware, we will be taking your temperature and measuring your blood oxygen level on arrival. If you are exhibiting symptoms of a fever we will have to reschedule your appointment.
If you would like to read about all the ways we are minimising the risk of spreading Corona Virus, please click here.
Please be Aware:
Staff will be wearing more elaborate protective equipment. There has been a dramatic increase in price of our PPE (Personal Protective Equipment). Unfortunately, we are not able to absorb this price increase so we have had to make the difficult decision to increase our prices. To view our prices please click here.
We are minimising the use of our waiting room. We ask that if you arrive early, you wait in your car. This is to ensure you are the only patient on the premises during your visit.
We will be seeing fewer patients than usual. This means you may have to wait slightly longer for an appointment. We will initially be prioritising emergency appointments.
We are following strict government guidelines. These are subject to changes which may impact our ability to provide our usual services. We will continue to keep you updated.
Are you a nervous patient?
LET'S HAVE A CHAT
We can completely understand how some people are afraid of the Dentist, especially if you have had a bad experience in the past.
We want you to know that here at Mews, all we want is for you to feel comfortable and have the best possible oral health. If that means sitting in the waiting room and talking over some tea – that’s ok! We are happy to slowly build our way to making you feel safe with us.
Maria, our practice manageress and dental nurse, is also a trained therapist and counsellor. She has experience with phobic patients and would be happy to talk to you before you even book your appointment.
